Father’s Day is smack dab in the middle of grilling season. It took a LOT of convincing, but I’ve finally talked my dad into pellet grilling. Little does he know, he’s getting a new pellet grill from Rural King Supply. The first thing we’re going to grill will now be known as the Father’s Day Fluffy Burger…or at least that’s my name for it. Learn what the Father’s Day pellet grill pick is and why. Plus, a recipe for the juiciest burger you’ll ever grill.

WHY BIG HORN?
I’ve been looking for a pellet grill for a while now. In the beginning, I don’t know if I could have told you much difference other than face-value or, “this one ‘looks’ nicer.” Sure, looks go into the equation, but they aren’t that important when making an educated buy.
First, I looked at the size of the hopper and cooking area.
Without the added cooking trays, this grill has 580 sq. in of cooking space. Plus, it’s deep enough to cook a full turkey and chicken if I want. The extra grilling grates add space for chicken wings or veggies and can easily be removed.
The hopper can hold almost an entire bag of pellets! That means I can leave my grill running and don’t have to worry about refilling over and over.
Then, I learned a bit more about how well this grill worked compared to other brands. The Big Horn pellet grill can grill just as well as any Treager, one of the most well-known pellet grill brands. Plus, one of our grilling experts who owns both grills told me she prefers the temperature control on her Big Horn over the Treager!
Once I had the facts, it was time to look at the price. Big Horn is just over $300. Compared to a $599 Pit Boss or a $699.99 Treager and my choice was obvious.
I love this grill! If you have any questions or have thought about buying another pellet grill, let me know if the comment section below the post!
Father’s Day Fluffy Burger Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs Ground Beef
- 1 Cup Dried Bread Crumbs
- 1 Egg (beaten)
- 3 Tbsp Evaporated Milk
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Your Choice of Rub (I used Old World Spices Burger Rub)
- 4 Slices of Cheese (I prefer cheddar, but it’s up to you)
- 4 Buns (toasted)
- Bacon (optional)
Directions:
Combined your beef, egg, evaporated milk, Worcestershire sauce, and rub in a bowl. Hand-mix well.
Once your burger is fully-mixed, divide into 8 equal patties.
Quarter your 4 slices of cheese, and place an equal amount on 4 of your 8 patties. Lay the other burgers on top and pinch the sides to seal. Your patties should be roughly the size of a standard hamburger bun, as they will shrink while grilling.
Preheat your pellet grill to 300 F. Grill your burgers for about 5-8 minutes per side. When you flip your burgers, take a toothpick and poke the center of each burger to let steam some steam escape.
Take your burgers off the grill, add some bacon, and slap them on a toasted bun. Mmmmm!
Happy Father’s Day!
